J. Kidman’s director, James, was part of a Wood Marsh-led consultancy made up of landscape architects, hydrogeological engineers, structural engineers, and lighting specialists, where he was responsible for the design and documentation of new premium wildlife viewing infrastructure, which had to navigate highly sensitive terrain, tough environmental conditions, and demanding usage requirements such as low-light navigation and DDA access. In contrast to other incumbent viewing infrastructure at the site, which was starkly man-made and lacking subtlety, the concept for this new premium viewing area was to actually ‘resist the idea of a building’, and aspire to more of an occupiable landform.
